My First Tri Season Re-cap

As fall wraps up and the first snow falls here in Wyoming, I took time for a post season re-cap while on a run with Barb (my coach and life long role model). What a whirlwind of a year! At the year's start I was working out maybe three times a week and focused solely on finishing up my requirements for Physical Therapy school.

Mid summer I was working 40 hrs a week at a PT office, coaching the swim team, and training 15-20 hrs a week for triathlon. With great deliberation, I quit my job at the PT office and decided to take a detour and go all-in on this triathlon adventure. Now, my life is headed in a totally different direction. I'm still coaching and loving it, but PT school is on hold and training and recovery are my main focus.

In the past six months I've raced in seven races, won three, raced with the 2004 Olympic Bronze medalist and the winner of the 2010 Giro Donne,  met so many amazing people, and learned so so much in the process!

Currently, I'm taking a two week break from the intense training, to help take care of my mom in the hospital, work on sponsorships, and put together a race schedule for next year. I had three minor wins this year, but am going for bigger and better races next year and earning my elite card is the next big goal in the works! I couldn't be more excited about what the next year holds.

I'm ready to buckle down for the winter and put in some good hard training to come out strong in the spring!
